Barristers Chambers

In the late 1990’s our studio was commissioned by a group of Barristers to design the communal areas of Level 14, Owen Dixon Chambers West. Their brief was to create an interior that was distinctly different to the standard fitout elsewhere in the building, one that better represented them collectively and individually. Almost twenty years later we were invited to work with them again. While the building was being upgraded by the owner, Barrister’s Chambers Limited and Gray Puksand, the Barristers of Level 14 wished to maintain the interior that had set them apart successfully for two decades.

We identified that elements that had stood the test of time including space planning, overall colour palette, finely detailed timber joinery, pin-striped glass, panelled walls and two Paul Partos artworks. Changes were only proposed where there was a significant gain in functionality or aesthetics, the overall aim being a discreet upgrade, not a makeover.

Furniture and lighting selected from Adam Goodrum, Vitra, Luceplan, Artemide, Behruz Studio and Camm Upholstery Lighting complement the fixed elements which include Royal Oak timber floors and Tretford carpet. Workstations were custom designed to suit individual needs.

Key to the project was the significantly upgraded lighting by David Bird of 2B Designed, creating a welcoming, professional ambience.
