Country Road (1980s)

“Establishing a clearly identifiable image in the hectic world of fashion is no mean feat. But it is essential to success. Country Road established a style with their clothes, and their stores required similar treatment. Nexus came up with the goods and put them on display.

Nexus was commissioned to interpret Country Road’s unique design philosophy into a series of nationwide stores. Initially close liaison between the store’s designers and the Nexus team established a formula for the external image, modular display systems, co-ordinated colour schemes and general internal planning.

In Melbourne’s Bourke Street shopping mall Nexus introduced multi-ply timber construction for the racking system, display fitments and counter. A mix of ceramic floor tiles and carpet defines fashion stores (city wear, day wear, casual wear and so on) from each other and provides a catwalk for in-house parades.”
