Her Majesty’s

When designing a single space with multiple functions – in this case living/dining/kitchen – achieving the right balance between how much each function dominates the space is critical for a harmonious result. Here we kept most of the kitchen ‘quiet’ with the stone and paint finishes of the rear wall joinery, including appliances, all in one colour. This maximises the overall sense of space and light. We gave the island bench more emphasis using dark stone and paint as a contrast to the calm base palette of the room. Planning the functional layout of the kitchen was carried out in close consultation with our client. We gained an understanding on how they work and the dynamics of their family. A dream walk-through pantry/scullery flows on from the kitchen, with a laundry beyond the pantry for maximum function flow.
