“We love it here during winter when all the leaves are off the trees and the light is different from summer. Even with a foot of snow outside, it’s still cosy and bright inside.” Client extract from Belle Magazine
As a haven of hospitality and relaxation, a retreat from the bustle of New York City, this mid-century Californian Case Study inspired home needed a truly unique and openminded approach. Responding to the immediate landscape, lush green one season and snow white the next, a warm grey was chosen to envelope the exterior form, while internally rooms maximise orientation and connection to the outside. With the hint of sea salt on the breeze, blue and yellow tones reflect the surrounding coastline and play off the Roy Lichenstein ‘wallpaper’ that dominates the main living space. Richly layered, with rationalised entertaining areas and sheltered spaces, this home encourages both lively hospitality and peaceful intimacy.
