Apple Eyed
Extensive rework of a beloved space to realise new flow while maintaining nourishing and generous spaces.
A former wrapping paper factory on the fourth-floor, this grand Tribeca loft was transformed into a sanctuary in the city for a professional couple who wanted to create a sense of ‘Australia’ amidst their busy lives and Manhattan location. Having worked with the client on the space 10 years prior, Nexus Designs was invited back to reimagine it once again, this time alongside NYC-based studio Hirsch Corti Architecture.
With a new brief to improve both the flow and lighting of the 280 sqm space, Hirsch Corti Architecture oversaw an extensive redesign of the floor-plan, with changes to the layout of the bathrooms, bedrooms, kitchen and entry. Working in close collaboration, Nexus Designs led on conceptualising and delivering the apartment’s furnishing and finishes, from custom joinery to flooring, light fixtures and place settings.
Transforming the home for the evolving contemporary needs of the client, whilst adhering to requirements set out by the owners’ corporation and paying homage to the building’s original features was no mean feat. The reimagined interiors now create a setting that intuitively caters to and nourishes the homeowners – epitomising the studios’ shared vision and generous, fruitful partnership.
